COLUMBUS - The second-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team recorded an early-season win against a regionally ranked opponent on Saturday sweeping Anderson 7-0. The non-conference match took place at the John W. Walden Tennis Center in Columbus.
The Cougars didn't have any trouble against the 10
th-ranked team in the Southeast Region not dropping a set throughout the day.
Christian Garay and
Matei Avram grabbed the most impressive doubles victory at the second position. Playing against the seventh-ranked duo in the region, Ignacio Bidegain and Preston Morpeth, the Cougar tandem raced to a 6-3 win. Both the Cougar first and third doubles teams won their matches by a 6-2 margin.

Alvaro Regalado dropped just two games to No. 23 Bidegain in a 6-1, 6-1 win.Â
Garay (6-2, 6-1) and Cueto Ramos (6-1, 6-0) were nearly perfect at third and fourth singles, respectively. Freshman
Pietro Martinetti was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at the sixth spot.
Fabien Asdrubal and Schold were both pushed in the first set before both won their respected matches by the score of 7-6, 6-1.
Columbus State will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 19 against No. 16 West Alabama. The match will begin at 2 p.m. at the Walden Tennis Center.
