• Second-year freshman Caitlyn Canady was the spark in the lineup on Sunday as the Cougars swept Emmanuel College in Columbus. The center fielder went 4-for-7 with three runs and three RBIs, including a triple and a solo homer. Canady leads the team in batting average (.323) and hits (10) while ranking second in the Peach Belt Conference in triples (2) and fifth in at-bats (31). She will enter Wednesday on a six-game hitting streak.
• Morgan Elston continues to be a consistent threat in the Cougar offense. In CSU's pair of games against AUM on Saturday, the third-year sophomore was 4-for-7 and hit a double and a home run in the second game of the doubleheader. The second baseman leads the team in RBIs (7), and her two sacrifice flies leads the PBC so far this season.
• The Cougars are known to be a patient team at the plate, and this season is no different. CSU has drawn a PBC-leading 51 walks, 14 more than Young Harris College, which is second. Individually, Hannah Rose Corbin ranks first with 12, while Elyse Ambrose (8) and Elston (7) are fifth and sixth, respectively.
• The Cougars were busy on the base paths against Emmanuel. CSU stole five bases on Sunday, including a season-high three in the opener. Entering the doubleheader, Columbus State had just three steals on the year
• Canady, Elston and Ambrose are all tied for fifth in the PBC in runs scored (8). As a team, the Cougars are averaging nearly five runs per game.
• Harley Dawson recorded CSU's first save of the year in the Cougars' 4-2 win on Sunday. The fifth-year senior is seventh in the PBC in batting average against (.238) and strikeouts (17), while her 2.30 ERA is the 10th lowest.
