YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Two early goals propelled the No. 8 Columbus State University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Young Harris College on Wednesday night in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Cougars (8-0-1, 3-0-0 PBC) converted a penalty kick from
Carley Canzoneri in the 11th minute to move in front, while a header from
Maddie DeFranco in the 19th minute pushed the margin to two.Â
CSU continued to control the pace of play in the second half, with
Emma Beddow adding an insurance goal in the 86th minute to secure the victory.
"This was another good win for the team," commented head coach
Jay Entlich. "It's never easy playing on the road, especially in this league, but our players continue to find ways to pick up decisions."Â
Columbus State outshot Young Harris (3-4-0, 0-3-0) 21-5 overall, including an impressive 14-1 margin in the first half.Â
Maria Kilset notched two assists in the match, while
Parker Morgan had her second helper of the year.Â
Sara Halilhodzic and
Lizzie Hedrick (3 saves) combined for the shutout in net for Columbus State.
