COLUMBUS - The No. 2 Columbus State University men's tennis team grabbed its first top-25 win of the season on Friday after sweeping No. 14 Auburn University at Montgomery 7-0 at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
CSU (3-0) made a statement in doubles to take control of the match early. The Cougars only dropped three games in the three matches, including a 6-0 sweep by Alvaro Regalado and Pietro Martinetti in the top spot over the seventh-ranked doubles team in the nation.Â
Columbus State's dominance carried over into singles play. All six Cougars won their matches in straight-set style with Javier Cueto Ramos, Martinetti, Regalado and Schold all extending their impressive individual winning streaks in spring play. Christian Garay (7-6, 6-1) and Justin Welz (6-0, 6-3) also picked up wins for CSU at the fourth and sixth spot on Friday.
