Track & Field Wraps Up Meet at Emory

Gavin Nembhard won his second straight triple jump event this weekend

ATLANTA - The Columbus State University men's and women's track & field teams performed well at this weekend's Emory University's Thrills in the Hills Open at the EU Track Complex.

The Cougar men grabbed their second straight top-five finish, earning 77 points for a fourth-place finish. The Lady Cougars were 15th out of 23 teams.

For the second straight week, the Cougars had some top performers with CSU capturing three events. Jackson Fulks impressed in the 200-meter dash, breaking the tape in 21.42 for the top spot. Gavin Nembhard won his second straight triple jump event. The sophomore had a jump of 13.92 meters to finish first.

CSU also won a relay event as the team of Nembhard, Roosevelt Trammell, Fulks and Colin French took first in the 4x100-meter. The relay team ran a 42.06.

Other top finishers included Trammell in the 100-meter dash (10.63. 2nd), the 4x800-meter relay team of Blake Lewis, Daniel Campbell, Carl Corley and Savian Taylor (7:55.23, 2nd), Ryan Conn in the pole vault (4.45m, 3rd) and Fulks in the triple jump (13.54m, 3rd).

Imani Arnold was CSU's top female finisher during the meet. Arnold was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.36.
