Indianapolis – The ninth-ranked Columbus State University baseball team is third in the first 2022 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional rankings released on Wednesday.
The Cougars, who own a 36-8 record following a 10-1 win on Wednesday night over Auburn-Montgomery, are behind North Greenville University (38-7) and Wingate University (41-6). The top-two teams in the final poll will host regionals beginning on May 19. Peach Belt Conferences rivals the University of North Georgia (seventh) and Young Harris College (ninth) were also included in the top-10.
The Cougars with travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on the Flagler College in their last series of the season starting on Friday. This series has major postseason implications with Columbus State needing to win one game in order to clinch a PBC regular-season title. CSU is already guaranteed to host the first round of the PBC Tournament which begins next weekend with a best-of-three series.
