Tucker Starling Earns Chick-fil-A Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Columbus State University Baseball senior right-handed pitcher Tucker Starling has been named the Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway.

COLUMBUS — Columbus State University Baseball senior right-handed pitcher Tucker Starling has been named the Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, following a dominant performance on the mound during the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

Starling appeared in two games during bracket play, going 1-0 with one save while recording nine strikeouts and just two walks. Across his two outings, he posted a 4.00 ERA and played a key role out of the bullpen for the Cougars.

In the tournament opener against USC Aiken, Starling earned a three-inning save after allowing three runs on four hits while adding one strikeout. He followed with a standout performance in an elimination game against Lander, tossing the final six innings in relief to earn the win. Starling allowed just one run on three hits and recorded a career-high eight strikeouts.

A senior from Hogansville, Georgia, Starling is majoring in Kinesiology. When asked who has had the greatest influence on his athletic career, Starling credited his father, saying, "My dad because he always pushed me to be the best."

The Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week award recognizes outstanding athletic and academic achievements and is presented weekly by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, a proud supporter of Columbus State student-athletes.
