Cougars Third in Latest PBC Commissioner's Cup Standings

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Columbus State University sits in third in the 2021-22 Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup standings following the winter sports season.

The Cougars have a rating of .729 and are behind Augusta University (.833) and Flagler College (.803) in the rankings.

The PBC Commissioner's Cup is the annual award given to the best overall athletic department based on regular-season final standings and championship results from cross country, golf and track & field. Teams are rated according to the number of points collected divided by the amount available to them.

CSU earned 35 points out of a possible 48 during the fall and winter seasons.

The Cougar women's soccer team garnered nine for winning the PBC regular-season title. Both the women's cross country team and basketball team pulled in seven out of a possible 10 points in their respected sports, while the men's basketball and cross country teams tallied six.

The spring season decides the  PBC Commissioner's Cup winner as nine sports are currently competing in the standings. CSU is looking to climb the cup leaderboard as three teams sit atop the PBC standings.

The PBC Commissioner's Cup will be presented at the annual awards dinner at the league's annual meeting in Hilton Head, S.C., on May 31.
