Lady Cougars Record 3-0 Win to Open Season

CSU scored two penalty kick goals to add to its lead later in the match.

COLUMBUS - The No. 15 Columbus State University women's soccer team began the 2022 season with a 3-0 win over the University of West Alabama late Friday night at the Walden Soccer Complex.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
• Lauren Barnes got the scoring started in the 13th minute off a  quick pass from Lizz Forshaw near the end line
• PK's by Anna Grady (22nd minute) and Emma Beddow (75th minute) padded CSU's lead

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Columbus State (1-0-0) outshot West Alabama 16-1, including holding an 11-0 margin in the 1st half
• CSU held a sizable 13-0 advantage in corner kicks
• Six Lady Cougars posted two shots 
• Goalkeepers Sara Halilhodzic and Lizzie Hedrick each played a half in goal to shutout the Tigers
