OXFORD, Ala. - The Columbus State University cross country teams began the season on Friday in the Foothills Invitational hosted by DI Jacksonville State University.
TEAM RESULTS
• The Cougars came in seventh place with 184 points, but third among non-DI schools. Emory University (34) snuck out a win over Auburn University (35).
• The Lady Cougars (309) nearly finished inside the top 10, coming in 11th. Auburn was impressive on its way to claiming the women's title.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
•
Blake Lewis paced the Cougars with a time of 16:29.29 to finish in 36th.
Aidan Rush (16.37.24, 41st) and
Elijah Sires (16:50.45, 48th) were also in the top 50. Spencer Moore of Emory was the individual winner with a time of 15:32.32
• Two female runners finished inside the top 40 for CSU.
Shanya Washington led the way with a 24th place showing (15:31.32), while
Kat Valenta was right behind her (15:40.95) in the 4k. Annika Urban made it a clean sweep for Emory for the individual titles with a time of 13:50.43 to break the tape.
