BLUFFTON, S.C. - Senior Brooke Ouimette scored a first-half goal and later added an assist to lift the No. 3 Columbus State University women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over USC Beaufort on Wednesday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at Fin Land Field in Bluffton, S.C.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
• It took over 40 minutes until the Cougars broke through the Sand Shark defense for the match's opening goal. In the 41st minute, Ouimette dribbled in from midfield before ripping a shot from long-distance that knocked off the goalkeeper and the cross bar across the goal-line.
• Ouimette once again started the attack resulting in Columbus State's second goal. The senior aired a pass into the box, where Olivia Roth flicked the ball over to Anna Grady. Grady calmly chipped a shot into the net to put the Cougars ahead 2-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Columbus State (7-1-1, 3-0-1 PBC) dominated the pace of play, including outshooting USCB 27-0.
• The Cougars held a 14-0 advantage in corner kicks. CSU attempted 10 over the first half.
• Emily Worrell was busy in goal for USC Beaufort, making a season-high eight saves. 
• Goalkeepers Lizzie Hedrick and Sara Halilhodzic split time for the Cougars.
• Emma Beddow fired off a match-high six shots.
• USCB (8-2-0, 2-2-0) was whistled for 11 fouls, compared to 6 on the Cougars. 
NOTABLES
• It was the first time Ouimette tallied a goal and an assist in the same match. It's also the senior's first goal since March 31, 2021 (vs. Francis Marion).
• Twelve different players have now scored for Columbus State in 2022.
• Grady has logged a point in back-to-back matches following her goal. It was her first since the season-opener against the University of West Alabama.
• Roth and Grady are now tied with three other Cougars for the team lead with two assists.
• Hedrick and Halihodzic teamed up for their fifth combined shutout in 2022. 
• Beddow's (five straight with a point) and Rachael Sweigard's (three straight with a goal) scoring streaks ended on Wednesday.
• It was the second straight match CSU registered 20 or more shots. Columbus State has fired off 25+ shots in three matches this year.
