Daniel Melvin scores 21 in win against Georgia College

First win against the Bobcats since 2020

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's basketball team earns their 10th road win of the season against Georgia College by a score of 69-64. With the win, CSU improves to 11-9 on the season and 4-6 in PBC play. The Bobcats fall to 6-13 and 2-8 in PBC play. 

The Cougars were down three points at half but came out the second half hot as they went on a 15-0 run. The closest Georgia College would get is within five points but CSU had an answer for every come back effort. Daniel Melvin tied a season high of 21 points as he was raining three's. Melvin was 5-10 from the three-point arc and is now over the 100 total point mark for the season. Jehloni James played one of his best games of the season as he missed a double-double by one rebound. Jehloni recorded 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and three steals.

Columbus State would be out-rebounded 33-40 but the Cougars would lead in blocks (4-3), free-throw percentage (70.6%-50%), three-point percentage (40.9%-31.3%), and field goal percentage (44.4%-38.7%). This win would get CSU on their fourth win streak of the season.

- Jehloni James tied season high in points(12), season high field-goals made(5), season high in rebounds(9), tied season high in assists(3), and tied a season high in steals(3)
- Nelson Haskin eclipses the 200 point mark in the season, eighth game with 10 points or more
- Lederrius Jones had a season high in rebounds(5)
- Grant Howard had a season high in free-throws made(7)

UP NEXT:
Columbus State will look to start February off right as the Cougars will head back on the road to Aiken, SC on Feb. 3 to take on a red hot USC Aiken squad that has won their last four games.
