AIKEN, S.C.- The Columbus State University men's basketball team defeated USC Aiken in overtime, Wednesday night, by a score of 80-77. USC Aiken falls to 15-6 (8-3 PBC) with the loss and snaps their four game win streak.

Any win inside the Peach Belt is important but to beat a top team in the conference on the road is special. Columbus State had to dig deep and fight for this one as they saw themselves with a 15 point deficit at one point but key stops on defense and clutch shots late in the second half and in overtime lifted the Cougars to a win.

Nelson Haskin shot the lights out as he went 10-17 from the floor and 3-3 from three-point range. The Senior leader scored a season-high 25 points and hit clutch three-point shots to get the Cougars to overtime and to put CSU ahead in overtime. Daniel Melvin was a sniper from the three-point line as he swished four three-pointers and finished with 17 points. Wisdom Uboh followed as he was a spark-plug off the bench as he was able to shoot a couple of daggers into the hearts of  Pacers fans. He would finish with 12 points.

Columbus State would make every shot they attempted in overtime and would finish shooting 43.9 percent from the floor and an impressive mark of 40.9 percent from three-point range. CSU would improve their road record to 11-4 and would lead the Peach Belt Conference in road wins. "We had so many road games early in the season so the guys took upon themselves to be road warriors", said coach Robert Moore, "we work hard on being focused on the road."
