DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's soccer team lost it's final game of the regular-season to Peach Belt Conference rival University of North Georgia 1-2 on Sunday, Oct. 29 at UNG's Soccer Field.
The Cougars close regular-season play with an 11-4-1 overall record and a 7-1-1 PBC record. The Nighthawks improved to 13-2-2 (8-0-1 PBC).
The match was tied 1-1 in the first half, with CSU sophomore
Sarah Hungerford scoring first in the 27th minute to give the Cougars their only lead of the game. A minute later, UNG's Katey Derkay tied the game.
The game was still tied heading into the final minute of play when UNG was given a penalty kick opportunity. At the 88:59 minute mark, Maysoon El-Shami found the back of the net to give the Nighthawks a 2-1 lead.
UNG out shot CSU 11-8, however CSU had seven shots on goal while UNG only had two. North Georgia tallied seven corner kicks while Columbus State had five.

The Cougars finished second in the PBC and will host the first round of the PBC Tournament starting on Monday, Nov. 6. Brackets will be released soon.
