COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's soccer team defeated Peach Belt Conference opponent University of South Carolina Beaufort 2-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex. The Cougars improve to 5-3-1 (3-0-1 PBC) and the Sand Sharks fall to 6-2 (2-2 PBC).
The Cougars and Sand Sharks were scoreless for most of the first half until Columbus State got on board in the 27th and 29th minutes.
Emma Beddow gave CSU the lead first, finding the back of the goal thanks to
Kendal Coreil who grabbed the assist. Just two minutes later, Beddow found
Faith Knoedler, in which Knoedler headed the ball into the net to grow the Cougars' lead to 2-0.Â
CSU tallied 29 shots while USC Beaufort only made six.
Lizzie Hedrick recorded four saves in goal to shutout the Sand Sharks.

Columbus State will travel to Americus, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 7 to play PBC foe Georgia Southwestern State University.
