COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team wins in walk-off fashion against Flagler College Friday night by a score of 4-3. Columbus State improves to 7-1 (1-0 PBC) and Flagler falls to 0-8 (0-1 PBC).
CSU found themselves in a pitchers duel early between
Noah Windhorst of Columbus State and Gage Voorhees of Flagler. Windhorst pitched six innings, scattered six hits, gave up three earned, and struck out five Saints in his outing. He gave way to the bullpen in the seventh inning where
Cole English and
Leo Giannoni were nails for the Cougars. They combined for four scoreless innings, with no hits, and they struck out three. Gage Voorhees was one tough customer this afternoon as he held the Cougars scoreless for six innings.
Columbus State finally got to the senior right hander in the seventh inning which started with an
Ian King double down the right field line. King would score on a bunt that Flagler was unable to field.
Derek Wylie came up to the plate later in the inning and knocked home a two out, two rbi single into left field.
In the 10th inning, which started with a throwing error by Flagler,
Ian King got himself another base knock which set the Cougars up for first and second with no outs.
Connor Kirley would lay a perfect bunt down the third base line in which the third baseman air mailed the first baseman then
Trace Twardoski scampered home as the winning run for CSU.
