Trace Twardoski walk-off bomb lifts Cougars past Flagler

CSU had four homeruns today

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team walks off Flagler for the second game in a row Saturday afternoon. CSU won by a score of 9-8. CSU is now 8-1 (2-0 PBC) and the Saints are 0-9 (0-2 PBC)

Columbus State had another stellar performance on the mound, this time from junior right hander, Colton Joyner. Joyner had a career-high 10 strike outs today as the Saints had no answer for him. He moves to 2-0 on the season and is now fourth in the PBC with 17 innings pitched and he leads the conference in strikeouts with 18.

The Cougars went into the bottom of the fourth in a 1-1 ball game but not for long as Derek Wylie hit a no doubt shot to left center. He then stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the fifth and hit one even further over the left field parking lot. Ian King hit his first homerun as a Cougar in the bottom of the eighth as he deposited a 0-1 pitch to extend the Cougar lead to four.

The Saints rallied from down 8-3 in the top of the ninth and were able to tie it up with five runs on three hits. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, in came the Columbus State hero, Trace Twardoski, who is quickly becoming one of the clutchest hitters to put on a Cougar uniform. Twardoski swung at the first pitch he saw and he delivered one of the best moments from the season so far as he trotted around the bases with his teammates waiting to mob him at the plate. Burger King Stadium went crazy.

NOTES:
- 8 of the 9 Cougar batters had a hit today
- Matthew McDade, Trace Twardoski, Ian King, and Derek Wylie all had two hits
- Wylie led CSU in RBI's with three
