COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team avenged Friday's loss, with a 11-1 run rule over West Alabama. The Cougars improve to 1-1 on the young season and West Alabama drops to even at 1-1.
Columbus State hasn't lost two games in a row since 2021 and that streak stays alive.
Matthew McDade had a day to remember as he unloaded on two pitches and deposited both over the left field wall. Eight RBI's would tie a career high for the Senior second baseman in RBI's which he set in 2021 against Claflin. Matthew is a red hot 4 for 7 to start the season.
In his first game of the season,
Steven Minter had a four hit day including a no doubt shot to left field.
Isaac Bouton and
Win Johns also contributed with multi-hit days as well.
On the bump,
Noah Windhorst and
Chandler Ring shut down the Tiger offense that scored 13 runs a day ago. The duo would combine for one earned run, one walk, and three strike outs. Windhorst moves to 1-0 and Ring earns the save, his first of the year.
