COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team run ruled West Alabama for a second game in a row. The Cougars won by a score of 12-0 and improve to 2-1, meanwhile, West Alabama drops to 1-2.
The Cougars were firing on all cylinders from the start. CSU jumped out to a four run lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI single from
Matthew McDade and, later in the inning,
Ian King.
Derek Wylie obliterated a first pitch curveball over the center field wall. There was no doubt in anyones mind whether it would leave the park or not.Â
This would give starting pitcher,
Colton Joyner, all the run support he would need. The Junior right hander went five strong innings, striking out four while scattering three hits. He led the PBC in wins last year and is already in the win column this year.
Leo Giannoni and
Ryan Suppa came in after and gave the Tigers no hope for scoring as they combined for four strikeouts in the two innings they pitched.Â
Columbus State would put the game out of reach in the bottom of the fourth when they batted around and would put up five runs on four hits that inning.
