Tennis Takes Down SAU on First Day of Road Trip

Men's team defeated the Muleriders 4-0 while the women won 4-2.

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Columbus State University men's and women's tennis teams racked up their wins in their matches on March 21.  against Southern Arkansas University in Pensacola, Fla. 

Men's Singles: 
  • At number two singles, Javier Cueto Ramos defeated T. Fischer of the Muleriders in a tie breaker match with a score of 7-6, 6-1, TB 5. 
  • Pietro Martinetti was able to defend his winning streak and defeated M. Wierniezky at number four singles with a score of 6-3, 6-0 making his overall record now 8-0. 
  • At number five singles, Armin Trklja grabbed the win from SAU member M. Tennant with final score of 6-2, 6-2.
Men's Doubles: 
  • Santiago Perez and Tommaso Schold took down the team of M. Tennant and A.. Gheorge at number two doubles with a final of 6-2. 
  • At number three doubles, the team of Felix Steen and Andrea Sandrone downed the team of Muleriders consisting O. Valkyser and G. Breitenmoser with final score of 6-3. 
Women's Singles: 
  • Nikoline Gullacksen keeps her winning streak alive taking down G. Wallin at number four singles with a score of 6-2, 6-4. She is now 6-0 on the current season in singles action. 
  • At number five singles, Yelena Labat defeated I. Serpukhova in three set with a score of 6-0, 6-7, 6-3. 
  • Sara Ramirez won her spot at number six singles with a score of 6-1, 6-3 defeating T. Lintz of SAU. 
Women's Doubles: 
  • The team of Agostina Bigotti and N. Gullacksen won their match defeating L. Milosevic and A. Berrendorf with a score of 6-3 at number two doubles. 
  • The number three doubles team consisting of Y. Labat and Inma Ramon defeated I. Serpukhova and S. Roy of the Muleriders with a score 6-3. 
UP NEXT
Both men and women will take on the University of West Florida Argonauts on March 22. at 2 p.m. during their second day of action in Pensacola, Fla.
