ORANGEBURG, Sc. - The Columbus State University baseball team completes three game sweep of Claflin with a 14-1 win on Sunday, March 5. The Cougars improve to 14-3 on the season and 8-1 in PBC play. Claflin moves to 0-13 and 0-9 in the PBC.
Another productive day from the CSU offense saw the Cougars tally 14 runs on 14 hits. The 2 through 5 hitters in the Columbus State batting order combined for 13 RBI's in the game.
Isaiah Hernandez had a season-high three RBI's as he had two hits on the day. Hernandez also walked three times.
Matthew McDade had three RBI's today and he walked a career-high four times.
Derek Wylie totaled a season-high four RBI's and had three hits today.
Will Wilbanks had two hits today and had three RBI's. This would mark the third time this year that he had three RBI's in a game.
Peyton Burton was masterful today as he tossed a career-high eight innings. He made quick and easy work of Claflin as he struck out 10 batters without a sweat. Burton is now tied for sixth in the conference with three wins and he is ninth in walks allowed. He gave way to
Ryan Suppa in the ninth inning and he had his fourth scoreless outing of the season as he struck out two out of the three batters he saw.

Columbus State has wrapped up their seven game road trip today and they now have seven home games in the next two weeks and will next return to action on Wednesday, March 8, when they welcome the Montevallo Falcons for a matchup of two top-ten ranked teams.
