YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Columbus State baseball team drops the final game in their three-game PBC series against Young Harris by a score of 9-6 on Sunday, April 2. With the loss, CSU is now 24-9 (11-7 PBC) and Young Harris improves to 25-10 on the year and 15-6 in PBC play.
For the third game in a row, YHC pounced on Columbus State within the first inning as they hit a three-run home run to jump out ahead.
Derek Wylie blasted his PBC leading 14th home run of the season in the top of the second to answer the Mountain Lion attack.
Ian King collected an RBI in the inning after a
Win Johns single and a
Trace Twardoski double. The never-ending Young Harris bats responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the second.
The Cougars hung a crooked number on the Mountain Lions in the third inning highlighted by a
Matthew McDade RBI-double into the gap to score
Derek Wylie who reached on a walk. CSU then scored two more runs later in the inning with RBI-singles from
Win Johns and
Ian King. The Cougars would strike again in the top of the fifth when
Matthew McDade launched his seventh home run of the season. McDade is now second in the Peach Belt Conference with 44 RBI's.
Chandler Ring entered the game for the Cougars in the third inning and gave CSU some length out of the pen. Ring would throw 3.2 innings as he struck out three while allowing no earned runs.
Leo Giannoni turned in a dominate outing as he struck out five during his two inning outing.
YHC would hang a three spot on the Cougars in the sixth inning which was enough to win the game from there on out.

Columbus State will return to Columbus, Ga. for some home cookin' as they have four home games this week. They will welcome in the AUM Warhawks on Tuesday, April 4 for a midweek showdown. AUM beat the Cougars earlier in the year by a score of 10-7 in 13 innings on Feb. 22.Â
