MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Columbus State University baseball team picks up their seventh win in a row with a victory against the Montevallo Falcons by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday, April 26. The Cougars are now 32-12 on the season and 17-10 in PBC play. The Falcons fall to 35-11 and 19-8 in GSC.
The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second with three straight RBI-singles off the bat of
Matthew McDade,
Ian King, and
Connor Kirley. All three had two hits in today's game. CSU added a couple of insurance runs late in the ballgame off of two wild pitches which allowed
Isaiah Hernandez and
Isaac Bouton to scamper home.Â
Jamie Boatright had his fifth start of the season and he pitched four great innings while striking out one. Jamie only had one mistake on the night and that was a two-run homer in the fourth inning but that was the only damage Montevallo could come up with off the senior left hander. The bullpen was dominant today asÂ
Cole English picked up his third win of the season as he tossed two shutout innings.
Chandler Ring relieved English and also pitched two scoreless innings while striking out one. He then turned it over to the Columbus State closer,
Peyton Burton, who picked up his sixth save of the season. Burton hasn't given up a run in nine straight outings.
