Columbus State Crowned 2022-23 PBC Commissioner's Cup

The Cup is the second straight for the Cougars and eighth overall, the most of any school in PBC history.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Peach Belt Conference announced Columbus State University the winner of the 2022-23 Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup at the league's annual awards dinner in Hilton Head on Tuesday, May 30. The Cup is the second straight for the Cougars and eighth overall, the most of any school in PBC history.

The Commissioner's Cup is presented annually to the best overall athletic department based on regular-season standings and select championships results from cross country, golf and track & field. Associate members are not reflected in regular season or championship point totals. Columbus State earned 81 out of a possible 111 points available to them based on the number of sports sponsored, giving them an .730 rating.

Columbus State was competitive across multiple sports in 2022-23. The Cougars won the regular-season PBC championships in women's soccer and men's tennis, were co-champions in softball and were the high finishers among non-associate members at men's and women's track & field. CSU also finished fourth or better in men's and women's cross country, baseball, women's tennis and women's golf.

"Winning the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup is an incredible accomplishment. Congratulations to our talented student-athletes, outstanding coaches, and dedicated staff for this awesome achievement," said Todd Reeser, Director of Athletics. "In addition, special thanks to the CSU Athletics Foundation and our Cougar Club donors for their investment in our Cougar champions."

The PBC Commissioner's Cup is determined by calculating the number of points possible to each school, given the number of sports they participate in, divided by the number of points earned during the year. Points are determined by placement in the final regular-season standings in each PBC championship sport except cross country, golf and track & field, which points are decided based off placement in their respective PBC Championship.
