No. 3 Cougars Drop Home Opener to No. 10 Embry-Riddle

The CSU women's soccer team lost 0-2 to Embry-Riddle Saturday morning.

COLUMBUS - The No. 3 Columbus State University women's soccer team dropped the first game of the 2023 season to No. 10 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 0-2 on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Walden Soccer Complex.

The Eagles improve to 2-0 after the victory while the Cougars start the season 0-1. Berglind Thrastardottir made the match 1-0, scoring in the 19th minute. The Cougars held Embry-Riddle for the rest of the first half.

In the second, CSU out-shot ERAU 8-6, but couldn't find the back of the net. However, Embry-Riddle's Marie Myhrvold Seim found it, increasing the Eagles' lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute.

Columbus State tallied 11 corner kicks while ERAU recorded seven. Lizzie Hedrick recorded three saves in the first half in goal for the Cougars.

Columbus State will travel to Salisbury, N.C. to play Catawba College on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
