COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University men's basketball team opened up Peach Belt Conference play with a 91-77 victory over Georgia College & State University Wednesday night in the Lumpkin Center. The Cougars improve to 7-3 (1-0 PBC) and the Bobcats fall to 7-4 (0-1 PBC).
Caleb Byrd led the Cougars with 21 points off the bench, shooting 80 percent (8-10) from the field, a perfect 100 percent (1-1) from three-point range and 66 percent (4-6) from the free-throw line.
Jarrett Adderton and
Jehloni James each scored 17 points, while
Marquis Davison and
Joshua Guilford added 10 apiece.
On the boards, Davison led Columbus State with eight rebounds and James tallied six.
As a team, the Cougars shot 50.8 percent (32-63) from the field, 54.5 percent (12-22) from the three-point line and 62.5 percent (15-24) from the charity stripe.
