COLUMBUS - Columbus State University Women's Basketball has released the upcoming schedule of games for the 2024-25 season.
The Lady Cougars will take part in a scrimmage and an exhibition in late October before hosting 11 regular-season contests at the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center.
Columbus State begins the 2024-25 campaign with a scrimmage at Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) followed by an exhibition at Alabama before officially tipping off in the Tusculum Regional Challenge hosted by Tusculum (Tenn.). CSU's official home opener is set for Nov. 30 against Wingate (N.C.).
"I am really excited about this season," Head Coach
Matt Houser stated. "We have seniors and juniors that started with me when I first got here and to see this program grow into what it is today is amazing."
Peach Belt Conference play will begin on Dec. 7 with a road clash at Georgia College and will resume on Jan. 4 with a trip to Augusta. The Cougars have a total of 18 PBC matchups this season.
"Our upperclassmen and program are on a mission," said Houser. "Our goals are to win the Peach Belt Conference, win the PBC Tournament, and win a NCAA Championship."
Last season, the Lady Cougars finished with a 19-10 overall record and a 13-5 conference record. CSU wrapped up the season with a runner-up finish in the PBC Tournament Championship.
Columbus State returns several key pieces from last season in
Olonna Rawls,
Letiya Reeves, and
Bre'lyn Snipes all of whom were three of the four top points producers. The Lady Cougars were led by Reeves who tallied 441 points for an average of 17 points per game. She also led the team in steals with 74 and was second-best with 15 blocks.
Rawls produced the team 's second-most points with 255, averaging 10.6 points per game. She is also led CSU in rebounds with 187 boards and is the leading returner in assists with 65 from a season ago.
As for Snipes, she totaled 209 points last season, averaging 10 per contest. She was second-best with a 42.9% (73-of-170) field goal percentage, third-best in total rebounds with 107, and fourth in steals with 25.
"This group is talented, and they will be a must-see team come the start of the season," Houser added. "I challenge everyone to come watch them work hard to do something special this season."
The Lady Cougars are set for the 2024-25 season to tip off with a road scrimmage on Oct. 26 followed by a road exhibition on Oct. 30. CSU will open the regular season on the road in Tennessee on Nov. 9-10.
