COLUMBUS – Columbus State University men's basketball opened the Clayton State Classic on Friday night with a matchup against Miles (Ala.).
The Cougars (3-1) downed the Golden Bears (1-1) in a 67-53 win in "The Loch" in Morrow, Ga.
First Half
The Cougars opened the game with a 41-31 advantage, marking the fourth-straight game this season scoring 40 or more points in the first half. CSU finished shooting for 50% (16-of-32) from the field, 16.6% (1-of-6) from three, and 72.7% (8-of-11) from the foul line.
Kordell Brown led the scoring with 14 points in the half shooting 6-of-10.
Jarrett Adderton tallied nine points, shooting four-of-6 from the field.
Roman Son dished out five assists in the half while
Jehloni James led off the glass with five rebounds.
Second Half
Columbus State followed up with a bit of a slower half in terms of offensive production, scoring just 26 points. The Cougars totaled just nine field goals, shooting for 39.1% (9-of-23), 25% (3-of-12) from three, and 71.4% (5-of-7) from the foul line.
Jordan Mitchell totaled five points in the second half with Brown and Adderton adding four points.

- Brown was the leading scorer in the game with 18 points, going 7-of-11 from the field.
