COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University men's basketball team defeated Clayton State University in a thrilling 84-77 victory in overtime Wednesday night in the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center. The Cougars advance to 12-10 (6-7 PBC).
The Cougars had a 30-23 lead over Clayton State after the first half of play, but the Lakers fired back in the second, scoring 45 points to force overtime. Columbus State took control of the extra five minutes of play, outscoring the Lakers 16-9 to secure the home win.
Jehloni James led the Cougars with 18 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 50 percent from both the field and behind the arc.
Wisdom Uboh tallied 15 points and
Jarrett Adderton had 12.Â
Joshua Jerome and
Marquis Davison each scored 11 points, and Davison recorded nine rebounds.
CSU shot 60.7 from the free-throw line, 44 percent from the three-point line and 38.9 percent from the field.
