COLUMBUS - The Columbus State baseball team won the third game of the three-game series against Quincy University Saturday 5-1 to sweep the series. The Cougars improve to 7-7 and extend their win streak to four games.
Quincy scored one run in the first inning and held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth when Columbus State plated all five runs of the game. With bases loaded,
Trevor Gruszka got the Cougars on board, scoring from third base off of a wild pitch.
Cody Ferguson then ripped a two-run RBI double down the left field line, scoring Hasty and McGlumphy.
Jackson Chizek scored off of a fielder's choice to make it 4-1, and
Win Johns singled to right center, plating Ferguson.Â
CSU only recorded four hits with Ferguson,
Andrew Rubin, Johns and Chizek each tallying one.
Trace Goforth received the win on the mound and improves to 2-1. Goforth struck out nine and allowed three hits in 6.0 innings pitched.

The Cougars will be back at Ragsdale Field on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m., hosting the University of West Florida.
