COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team defeated the University of West Florida 15-8 Tuesday evening to improve to 8-7 overall. 
The Cougars recorded 21 hits in Tuesday's win. CSU scored four runs in the first inning to take an early lead over West Florida. 
Derek Wylie singled with runners on first and second, and with a throwing error from UWF's left fielder, 
Cody Ferguson scored. 
Win Johns hit a RBI single, 
Seth Nelson hit a sacrifice fly, and 
Kole McGlumphy doubled, plating Johns.
CSU added on five more runs in the second starting with a Wylie RBI single, a bases loaded walk from Johns, Wylie scoring on a wild pitch and McGlumphy tallied another double, scoring Johns and 
Colby Brabston to make it 9-0.
The Argonauts recorded two runs in the third inning to minimize CSU's lead. 
Ian King hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, making it 10-1, before West Florida scored six runs in the fifth off of six hits and two errors. 
Columbus State broke out in scoring again, plating three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth. Brabston singled to the catcher and 
Andrew Rubin scored off of a throwing error by the catcher. Johns plated Brabston with a RBI double, and Nelson also hit a RBI double to score Johns.
In the eighth, Rubin ripped a RBI triple down the right field line and Wylie singled to left field to plate Rubin.
Rubin led CSU with four hits and Wylie, Johns and McGlumphy each tallied three RBIs. 
Leo Giannoni earned the win on the mound after 3.2 innings pitched and striking out three.
