COLUMBUS - The Columbus State baseball team fell 5-7 to Albany State Wednesday afternoon at Ragsdale Field. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 2-2 on the season.
CSU scored two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to an
Ian King two-run RBI single to left field. However, ASU scored four runs off of a bases loaded walk and three-run RBI double in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead over the Cougars.
Cody Ferguson answered back in the next half of the inning, singling to left field to plate King from third. The Rams responded, though, scoring three more runs in the fifth, making it a 7-3 ballgame.Â
Derek Wylie jacked a solo homerun to left center in the seventh and a bases loaded walk by
Seth Nelson in the ninth put the Cougars just two runs behind the Rams.
King led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.
Ben Steward received the loss on the mound after 3.2 innings pitched and striking out five batters.Â

Columbus State returns to Burger King Stadium on Friday, Feb. 9 for a three-game series against Catawba College.
