COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team lost to Catawba College 6-15 Friday afternoon at Ragsdale Field at Burger King Stadium. The Cougars fall to 2-3 overall.
Catawba had a 6-0 lead after the top of the fifth inning, but the Cougars gained back three runs in the bottom of the fifth to minimize the Chiefs' score.

Colby Brabston jacked a two-run home run to make it a 6-3 ball game.
Catawba added four more runs between the sixth and seventh innings to take a 10-3 lead, but CSU loaded the bases and scored two more runs in the seventh. Brabston got hit by a pitch to plate King, then
Derek Wylie hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring

The Chiefs' tallied two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth to extend the lead. The Cougars were able to score one more run in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't string together any more.
Colton Joyner received the loss on the mound after allowing 10 hits, six runs, two walks and struck out two batters in 5.0 innings pitched. Brabston led CSU offensively with two hits and three RBIs, while Chizek and Johns also each tallied two hits.
The Cougars will take on Catawba again on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Ragsdale Field.
