ATLANTA — The Columbus State track and field ended day two of the Emory Spring Break Classic, hosted by Morehouse College, by breaking three more school records. The Cougars took 7th place out of 18 teams this weekend, and the Lady Cougars finished 16th.
Junior William Player headlined the meet for the Cougars, placing first in the pole vault. Player vaulted 5.00m (16'4.75"), breaking the school record and ranking him #2 on the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field National Qualifier List.
The Cougars 4x800m relay team placed second, crossing the line at 7:54.28, breaking the former school record of 7:55.23. The team of Owen Hartshorn, Mcdonald Tandoh, Blake Lewis, and Senior Savian Taylor had one goal: breaking the school record.
Sophomore Deandra Downer placed third in the triple jump. Downer jumped 11.36m (37'3.25") and landed on a school record.

The Columbus State track and field teams will be back in action at Emory University's Thrills in The Hills meet, hosted by Morehouse College, from March 22 to 23. The meet will take place at B.T. Harvey Stadium. The gates open at 11 a.m. on March 22 and 8:30 a.m. on March 23.
