AIKEN, S.C. - The Columbus State baseball team split a doubleheader with Peach Belt Conference opponent USC Aiken on Saturday, March 23 on the road. The Cougars' record is now 18-12 (6-5 PBC) and the Pacers are 8-21 (4-7 PBC).
Game 1: CSU 4 USCA 1
- The Cougars tallied 11 hits and CSU starter Colton Joyner held the Pacers to four hits, collecting his second win of the season on the mound after pitching all nine innings
- CSU scored two runs in the third inning thanks to sacrifice fly from Andrew Rubin, scoring Jackson Chizek, and Win Johns ripped a RBI single to score Derek Wylie
- USCA minimized CSU's score to one run in the bottom of the third with a RBI single
- In the fifth inning, the Cougars scored two more runs off of a Wylie RBI double to right center field, plating Cody Ferguson, and Kole McGlumphy hit a sac fly to right field to score Rubin
- Wylie led CSU with three hits and Ferguson and Rubin each recorded two
Game 2: CSU 3 USCA 6
- CSU got on top in the first inning with a Johns single through the left side, plating Ferguson. The Cougars scored again in the fifth, thanks to a Wylie single to the shortstop, scoring Ferguson again
- Ferguson gave the Cougars the third run of the game in the sixth with a RBI single through the left side, bringing home McGlumphy
- USCA scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth off of a double, hit-by-pitch, two walks and a passed ball. The Pacers made it 6-3 in the eighth with a RBI single
- Ferguson and Colby Brabston each recorded two hits. Leo Giannoni received the loss on the mound after 0.1 innings of work, giving up three runs and three walks
