ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Columbus State University baseball team beat Flagler 8-2 Friday evening and
Andrew Rubin led the Cougars with three hits. With the win, CSU improves to 12-9 (2-2 PBC).
Flagler scored one run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead over the Cougars through the fourth inning before CSU scored two runs.
Isaiah Hernandez singled through the left side, plating
Win Johns, and
Kole McGlumphy scored off of a Flagler throwing error after
Jackson Chizek's single.
The Saints tied the game in the fifth off of a RBI single. The game remained tied until the top of the ninth when the Cougars rallied off of a hit and five free bases, scoring six runs. Rubin got things started with a RBI single to left field and
Colby Brabston then got hit by a pitch with bases loaded to allow a run. CSU drew four walks with bases loaded to extend their lead.
Leo Giannoni earned the win on the mound after 2.2 innings and not allowing any hits or runs. He improves to 4-0.
