COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team dropped the first game against Peach Belt Conference rival Georgia College State University 5-1 Friday evening at Ragsdale Field at Burger King Stadium.
The Bobcats out-hit the Cougars 12-9 on Friday to take the first game of the three-game series. In the first inning, GCSU took a 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run. The Bobcats then tallied three runs in the fourth inning off of two hits and one error.Â
Columbus State got on the board in the sixth inning, scoring one run thanks to a
Derek Wylie solo homer to right center field. Wylie,
Colby Brabston,
Win Johns and
Ian King each tallied two hits.
Johnny Dow recorded the loss on the mound after 4.0 innings pitched after allowing seven hits and five runs.
