BLUFFTON, S.C. – Columbus State University women's soccer (8-5-1, 6-2-0 Peach Belt Conference) earned a gritty 1–0 road victory over University of South Carolina Beaufort (9-4-2, 3-4-2 Peach Belt Conference) on Wednesday afternoon at Fin Land Field.
The decisive moment came early in the second half when
Payton Conti broke through in the 48th minute, slotting home what proved to be the game-winning goal. It marked her fourth goal of the season and her second game-winner, giving the Cougars the edge in a tightly contested battle.
Columbus State leaned on its defensive discipline the rest of the way. Senior goalkeeper
Heidi Harris delivered another standout performance, recording three saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season. The Lady Cougars' backline—anchored by Anna Labarbera,
Skye Tumbelty,
Kelsey Croft, and
Sophia Leal—turned back a late flurry of shots from the Sand Sharks to preserve the clean sheet.
