COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University Women's Basketball team turned in another dominant defensive performance on Saturday afternoon, against Flagler College, winning 74-52 inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center in Peach Belt Conference action. The win moves the Lady Cougars to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the PBC.
Columbus State controlled the game with a massive third-quarter surge, outscoring the Saints 31–13 to break open what had been a tight contest. The Lady Cougar defense was relentless, forcing 31 turnovers and converting them into 27 points, while piling up 21 steals in one of their most disruptive efforts of the season.
Samara Saunders posted a game-high 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.
Letiya Reeves added another strong performance with 19 points, including three made threes, and a team-best seven steals, setting the tone defensively.
Nekaya Williams had 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while
Aaliyah Ferrell anchored the glass with 13 rebounds.
Columbus State finished the afternoon shooting 27-of-75 from the field and dominated the paint with 36 points, also generating 15 second-chance points thanks to 18 offensive boards.
With the victory, the Lady Cougars remain unbeaten in conference play and continue to build momentum during the opening stretch of the Peach Belt schedule as they now turn their attention to a Wednesday, December 10 matchup at North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga., with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.
