#14 Cougars Have No Trouble Winning 72-62 Against USC Aiken

The Cougars add another win to the record and stay on top of the PBC

AIKEN, S.C. - The No. 14-ranked Columbus State Cougars (20-3, 11-2 PBC) traveled to South Carolina to face the Pacers of USC Aiken (16-6, 9-3 PBC). The Cougars put on a show for the crowd as they brought a 72-62 win back home to Columbus.

First Half

Columbus State came out strong in the first half, setting the tone early with efficient shooting and aggressive defense. The Cougars quickly built a lead behind the scoring efforts of Jarrett Adderton, who started the scoring for the Cougars. Jehloni James provided a spark with his ability to attack the rim, forcing USC Aiken's defense to adjust. On the defensive end, Columbus State applied relentless pressure, forcing multiple turnovers and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities.

USC Aiken struggled to find their rhythm, as the Cougars contested shots and controlled the boards. Midway through the half, Columbus State extended their lead to double digits, showcasing their dominance on both ends of the floor. Wisdom Uboh contributed valuable minutes off the bench, adding to the team's offensive depth. By halftime, the Cougars were down by one with the score at 29-30, but still in a good position to gain more points in the second half

Second Half

Columbus State maintained their momentum coming out of the break, quickly extending their lead with efficient shooting and disciplined defense. Adderton continued his scoring surge, knocking down crucial three-pointers to keep the Pacers at bay. USC Aiken attempted to mount a comeback, but the Cougars' defense remained firm, forcing contested shots and limiting second-chance opportunities. James and Uboh continued to contribute offensively, attacking the paint and converting high-percentage shots. The Cougars also controlled the pace of the game, slowing down USC Aiken's offense while executing their own plays with precision.

As the game progressed, Columbus State's lead grew, leaving little room for the Pacers to make a comeback. A late push by USC Aiken was quickly shut down by a well-balanced Cougars attack. In the closing minutes, Columbus State played smart basketball, managing the clock and securing defensive rebounds. With a dominant performance on both ends, the Cougars cruised to a 72-72 victory against USC Aiken.
