COLUMBUS – No. 10 Columbus State men's basketball defeated conference opponent Flagler 66-62 on Wednesday night. The Cougars move to (22-3, 13-2 PBC) as the Saints move to (13-11, 7-8 PBC).
First Half
Roman Son opened the game with a step back jumper followed with a three-pointer ninety seconds later. Both teams held a tight back-and-forth game, but Flagler eventually gained a lead of 13-9. Joshua Guilford responded with a three-pointer and a steal from Son allowed Jarrett Adderton to take back control and give the Cougars a 14-13 lead.
Within sixty seconds, Adderton added six points to the board. Harp Hunter saw his first points of the game after he drained a three-pointer, followed by another three-pointer from Masiah Jones.
After a little over two minutes of scoreless action, the Saints were able to get back on the board to tighten the game to 20-23 with six minutes left to play. The half ended 27-24 in favor of the Cougars as both teams struggled to produce points in the last minutes of the half.
Second Half
Flagler opened play with two points and eventually a free throw to tie the game 27-27. Wisdom Uboh quickly responded by draining a three-pointer to regain the lead. Adderton added another three-pointer to his resume to make his thirteenth point of the night thus far. CSU went on a 10-0 run, forcing Flagler to call time.
At the twelve minute mark, Flagler tied up the game 39-39. The next three followed with back-and-forth points from both sides to keep the tie going. A turnover by the Saints resulted in a Guilford layup to get the Cougars back on top.
Son tallied his eleventh point of the game which brought the Cougars back to a ten point lead with under six minutes left in the game. An 8-0 run by the Saints kept Flagler in the game as the deficit decreased to just two points. Uboh drained a three-pointer with twelve seconds left, but Flagler responded by quickly draining a three-pointer with seven seconds left on the clock. Flagler's attempt to regain the lead failed as CSU won 66-62.

The Cougars finished shooting for 37.3% (22-59) from the field, 19.2% (5-26) from the three, and 70.8% (17-24) from the foul line.
