LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Columbus State University baseball closed the weekend series at West Alabama on Sunday afternoon at Tartt Field in Livingston, Ala. with an 8-2 victory.
Cody Ferguson lifted the Cougars (2-1) to an early one-run lead in the first frame of play with a solo shot. The second and third innings resulted in scoreless affairs before CSU moved to a four-run advantage thanks to a two-RBI double from
Warrick Wilmot and an RBI single from
Ian King.
West Alabama answered with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth. The Cougars were fortunate enough to leave three runners stranded despite giving up an error and two hits to the Tigers.
Columbus State jumped out an 8-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning with a bases-loaded walk from
Cayden Evans followed by a bases-clearing double from
Bryce Knox for three RBIs. The Cougars were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest while the hosts were limited to just one additional run in the bottom of the ninth with a sacrifice fly.

- The Cougars recorded a .235 batting average as a team with eight hits and seven walks.
- Ferguson led the Cougars with three runs scored and two hits, including a homer.
- Wilmot notched one run scored, two hits and five RBIs.
- Ryan Suppa (1-0) earned the win, pitching for 5.0 innings. He struck out seven batters and allowed just one run on two hits and a walk.
- Nick Davidson provided 2.0 innings of relief and struck two batters out while Bailey Thorne and Peyton Burton both appeared for an inning each.
