COLUMBUS – Columbus State baseball fell 0-6 in game two of the series against Peach Belt Conference opponent, North Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
North Georgia took an early lead in the second inning after producing four hits and three runs. Two RBI singles for the Nighthawks followed by a rip down the third base line to bring in another Nighthawk for the 3-0 lead.
The Cougars struggled to produce runs as they left one on base in the third and fourth then two on base in the fifth. After three scoreless innings, North Georgia increased the deficit by one after a single to right field brought in an unearned run.
North Georgia added two more runs in the seventh inning. A Nighthawk reached base off a field error by Cody Ferguson. A double ripped down the line for the Nighthawks advanced the runner to third where he soon scored off a sacrifice fly. A single to right field brought in another Nighthawk for their final run of the game to go up 6-0.
Despite the Cougars efforts, they fell 0-6, calling for the tiebreaker in game three on Sunday.
