Baseball Finishes Series at Lander with 8-4 Defeat

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Columbus State University baseball (10-13, 2-7 PBC wrapped the series at Lander (S.C.) on Sunday afternoon with an 8-4 loss to the Bearcats (19-7, 8-1 PBC).

Columbus State 4, Lander 8

A hit in the first and second innings were not enough to get any offensive production for the Cougars. The third inning was broken of the drought as CSU scored two on a homer to right field from Cayden Evans. Another scoreless inning would result in the fourth before Lander was able to respond with a two-RBI double to level the game.

The Bearcats took the lead in the sixth with a lead-off double and an RBI single to lead 3-2. Columbus State bounced back in the seventh with a bases-loaded single up the middle from Bryce Knox which drove in two runs for a 4-3 advantage.

Unfortunately, luck ran out and Lander sparked a big five-run inning with a lead-off homer in the eighth followed by a three-RBI doble and an RBI single to lead 8-4.
