PENSACOLA, Fla. – Columbus State men's tennis traveled to the Florida panhandle to take on top-ranked West Florida in Pensacola on Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars (6-7) dropped the match against the Argonauts (16-1) in a 5-2 defeat on the road.
Columbus State managed to secure the doubles point as Andrea Sandrone and Elias Peter captured #1 doubles with a 7-6 set victory, sealing the victory with a 7-5 tie breaker. Despite dropping #2 doubles, Camilo Cano and Samer Al Tori earned a 6-4 victory at #3 doubles to secure the team point.
Sandrone was the lone Cougar to earn a point in singles play, defeating Albin Ekenros at #4 singles with a win of 7-6 (7-4) in set one and a 6-2 second set. Al Tori battled at #3 singles and nearly took the point after forcing tiebreakers in the first and third sets, unfortunately, he fell just shy.
