COLUMBUS – Columbus State men's tennis opened Peach Belt Conference action on Sunday with a home match against Augusta at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
The Cougars (7-7, 1-0 PBC) bounced back with a 6-1 win over the Jaguars (9-6, 0-4 PBC), taking two of the three doubles matches and all but one singles match.
In doubles play, Andrea Sandrone and Elias Peter led with a 6-1 victory at #1 doubles while Camilo Cano and Samer Al Tori captured a 6-2 win at #3 doubles.
As for singles play, Cano secured #1 singles 6-3 and 7-6 (2-0). In #2 singles, Al Tori went 6-3, 6-2. Benedek Szombathelyi forced a third set and won the #3 singles point while Peter went 6-0 and 6-3 at #5 singles followed by Yike Liu's 6-2, 7-6 (2-0) win at #6 singles.
