Men’s Tennis Defeats West Alabama in 5-2 Road Contest

CSU moves to 8-7 on the season after winning on the road in Livingston

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Columbus State men's tennis traveled to Livingston, Ala. for a non-conference match at West Alabama on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars (8-7) challenged the Tigers (5-8) and secured a 5-2 win on the road.

Despite the 6-3 win from the duo of Andrea Sandrone and Elias Peter at #1 doubles, West Alabama took the doubles points with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles and a 6-4 win at #3 doubles.

Columbus State flipped the script in singles play, taking the first three lines of singles while cleaning up with lines five and six for the 5-2 victory. Camil Cano took the lone singles bout that resulted in two sets, winning 6-4 and 6-3 in first position.

The rest of the winning singles matches for CSU were forced to three sets. Samer Al Tori went up a set at #2 singles and then broke the tie in the third set. Sandrone took the third line of singles with splitting the first two sets and capturing the third. For Peter, he went down in the first set and surged from behind with convincing sets two and three for the win at the fifth line. Lastly, Yike Liu followed with a three-set victory, coming from a set one loss and winning the third set in close fashion.
