COLUMBUS – Columbus State baseball split their doubleheader against Flagler on Saturday afternoon.
Columbus State moved to 9-10 (2-4 PBC) while Flagler moved to 15-6 (3-3 PBC).
Game One - Columbus State 5, Flagler 4
After a scoreless first three innings, Warrick Wilmot brought in Cody Ferguson off a sacrifice fly to go up 1-0. Flagler took the lead 4-1 in the sixth inning after recording four hits and three stolen bases.
Wilmot ripped a solo home run to right field in the sixth inning.
The Cougars came back for a walk-off 5-4 win in the bottom of the ninth inning. Wilmot started the crucial inning with a single to left field wall. A double for Ian King advanced Wilmot to third and a walk for Andrew Rubin loaded up the bases. A right field single by Luke Miller brought in Wilmot and King to tie the game 4-4. With two outs, Cayden Evans stepped up and with a left field single to bring in Rubin for the walk-off run.

Bailey Thorne earned the win on the mound after he tossed for the final 2.2 innings with two strikeouts and zero hits.

Eric Moore tossed for six innings with five hits, four runs, three eros, and three strikeouts.

Wilmot and Miller led with two hits and two RBIs apiece.

CSU recorded nine hits while Flagler recorded seven.
Game Two - Columbus State 0, Flagler 7
Flagler got on the board in the second inning after three back-to-back singles brought in a runner for the 1-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Flagler had a busy inning at the plate after they recorded two runs, three hits, and two left on base. A fielding error by the Cougars allowed a runner to reach base followed by a double and a single to eventually bring him in. Another single for the Saints brought in the third run for Flagler.
The fifth inning produced another run for the Saints after they tallied three hits. Columbus State continued to struggle at the plate after continuous quick outings and no recorded hits. The Saints ran up the score to 6-0 in the sixth inning with two more runs after they continued to produce hits.
The ninth inning ended the game with one more run for the Saints to call the game with a 0-7 loss for the Cougars. Columbus State struggled throughout the game as they only recorded three hits total compared to Flagler's thirteen.
Four Cougars made an appearance on the mound with Joey Gill taking the loss after tossing for four innings with six hits, three runs, two errors, and just one strikeout. Trenton Burnett tossed for two innings with five hits, three runs, two errors, and one strikeout. Coates Massey saw action on the mound for two innings while tossing two strikeouts and two hits. Mathew McMahan closed the game in the last inning with one run.
