COCHRAN, Ga. – Columbus State University baseball started the week with a 10-6 loss to Middle Georgia State University. With this loss, the Cougars are now 22-19 while the Knights are 23-21.
After a scoreless first inning, Middle Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Cayden Evans reached on a double down the left field line, and
Cody Ferguson hit a double to left field making the score 2-1.
In the sixth, CSU added three more runs to make the score 4-3. Evans singled to right field and
Cole Eison hit a single to left field. Right after, Player of the Week
Warrick Wilmot smashed a home run to center field picking up three RBIs.
Middle Georgia took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning after two walks and a wild pitch. A single from Yadiel Perez brought home the runners giving the Knights a 5-4 lead. The Knights added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning off a two-run blast to left field from Teonis Pimentel to go up 7-5.
The Knights added three more runs in the eighth to take a 10-6 victory over the Cougars.
