Cougars Secure a 13-8 Win Late Over Georgia College

Columbus State Cougars (24-19, 14-9 PBC) defeated Georgia College Bobcats (26-19, 17-6 PBC) after scoring five runs in the ninth inning. The Cougar takes a 2-0 series lead over the Bobcats and will try for the sweep on Saturday.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Columbus State Cougars (24-19, 14-9 PBC) defeated Georgia College Bobcats (26-19, 17-6 PBC) after scoring five run int the ninth inning. The Cougars takes a 2-0 series lead over the Bobcats and will try for the sweep on Saturday.

Senior Peyton Burton got his first win on the mound after tossing for two innings, facing eight batters, with two strikeouts, and zero runs, hits, or walks.  

Cole Eison opened the second inning with a double to left center field, and advanced to third on a fielding error by the left fielder. Cody Ferguson singled to left field, and Cole Eison scored to make the score 2-0. 

In the ninth inning, Cayden Evans, Jackson Chizek, Bryce Knox, and Luke Miller hit singles and scored a run that gave the Cougars a 13-8 victory over the Bobcats.

Inside the Numbers
  • CSU had fourteen hits and scored thirteen runs. 
  • Five different Cougars recorded RBIs. Miller and Eison had one, Ferguson and Chizek had two, and Eison had four.
  • Evans led with three hits, one run scored, and four RBIs. 
  • Eight different Cougars recorded hits while four of those had two hits or more.
  • The game had three ties and four lead changes.
